Collina d'OroThe second day of “2 giorni Ticino” will be at Collina d’Oro, a town founded in 2004 by the merger of three villages - Gentilino, Montagnola and Agra. The commune covers a hill of the same name, which literally means “Golden hill”. This name is a very accurate description of the beautiful landscape sunlit all year round.
Collina d’Oro is known for being the birthplace of many artists, architects and craftsmen who migrated across Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, making buildings and works of art of great prestige, particularly in Russia. The names of families Gilardi, Adamini, Camuzzi, Furlani can be found at a number of imposing buildings in St. Petersburg.
The village of Montagnola is known worldwide for having been for many years the residence of the writer Hermann Hesse, which was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1946.
Collina d’Oro is home to important cultural heritage, among which there are the church complex of Sant'Abbondio in Gentilino with the neoclassical cemetery nearby (a sort of outdoor sculpture museum) where famous people are buried; the Camuzzi house in Montagnola; the church of S.Tommaso in Agra and many more.
Among the rural buildings held in Collina d'Oro there is an old trap to catch the birds, which is situated in the forest Posmonte in Agra. Also, the village of Agra, on the hilltop, was well known in the first half of the nineteenth century because of the sanatorium, an impressive structure, built by wealthy Germans, in which they was treated for tuberculosis.
Welcome to the 32nd editionWelcome to the 32nd edition of the “2 giorni Ticino”! Two year passed and we are glad to welcome you again in the sunny Ticino. The 2010 competition is held in the area of Lugano: the first day is in Carona, second – in Collina d'Oro, and the event center for the both days is in Barbengo, a small village located in Pian Scairolo. Both forests have already hosted orienteering competitions and also the “2 giorni Ticino”, as you can see at the Hall of Fame page.
The competition formula is classical for “2 giorni”: two races, one on Saturday afternoon and the other is on Sunday morning. The first day is individual, starting at regular intervals. The second day, also individual, but the start is given based on the results of the first day, i.e in a pursuit (athletes starts are separated by their time differences from a previous race).
In 2008 in Bedigliora the members of the Swiss national team Dominik Koch and Angela Wild were celebrating the victory. Who will be next to win “2 giorni”? Will the Finnish national team arrive this year as well? (They have dominated the first day of 2008 race in Novaggio) Or the local athletes of Ticino will succeed at the home terrain in the two major categories – DAL and HAL? Which team will be represented by the largest number of runners? Who will be the fastest among the hollies of Carona and in the sunny slopes of Collina d'Oro?
Keep an eye on this web-page, on the 23rd of May we will publish here all the results, and the answer to all the questions will be given. Rankings, photos and videos of the race will be provided. But it is much better to see it all live and participate yourself!

Jarkko Huovila about his missing punchJarkko Huovila about his missing punch:
Yes, I missed to punch on one control on sunday, but it's difficult to know exactly why. Perhaps my mind was wondering somewhere else and I wasn't totally concentrated at that point. Anyway, when I left 13rd control I started to read my way to the 15th control, beginning from 15th, and I just checked the start of the leg very quickly and since it was quite simple I didn't check it again, but I was reading last controls from 15th to finnish. So, even that I run past the 14th control I didn't realise that I had missed it until I was jogging down after the race.
After Wednesday, 19 March, you can put your route on routegadget, on website: www.asti-ticino.ch

Famous participantsThere will be no Simone Niggli at 2 giorni. But the excuse is well-grounded - popular orienteer is waiting for a baby to appear in August. In a mail to organizers, Simone Niggli explained the absence by a health problem. Not with her, but with her husband Mattias Nigli who is chained to the bed by a strong influenza. We wish Mattias to recuperate as soon as possible and happy maternity to Simone!
